For Those Who Have Problems With
The new QuickTime 3.0
And are dissatisfied with Apple

Though QuickTime4.0 does not have all the problems that 3.0 does, I originally started this page for those of us who have so much trouble with QuickTime3.0
There is very little support at www.apple.com/quicktime for Win95/98 users
In the following weeks I will be adding information on how to disable or enable features, how to delete it or install it so that it doesn't take over your system.
And hopefully others out there can  send me additional information to post here. I hope to get updated info on QuickTime4 soon, as there are still some problems with it.

Guess What!
The new version of QuickTime doesn't replace the old one that originally installed in the Windows folder.
Player.exe, Play32.exe, Viewer.exe and View32.exe are not removed or installed by the Quicktime3.0 installation.
If you have never installed the older version, or you uninstalled it (thinking you didn't need it), and you run a program, game or interactive music CD that needs it, you'll need to install it (again). You can no longer find older versions of Quicktime at ftp.apple.com , I have not found any alternate locations.

This QuickTime installation file contains the 32bit movie player, 32bit image viewer and browser plug-ins:
QuickTime32 version 2.12.59 - Qteasy32.exe - for windows 95/98 (2626635 bytes), which I had to put into a Zip file on my own server. Check your old CDs, you may find a copy of QuickTime on one of them.

Installation instructions for Qteasy32.exe:
Click here and start downloading, save to your desktop or a temporary folder.

It doesn't matter where you save it to as long you remember where it is, and the desktop is easy to find. I had to put the original file in a zip, the original name was Qteasy32.exe, which is contained in Qteasy32.zip. Homestead would not let me store it as an exe file (I swear, someday I'm building my own server). You may want to keep this file in a safe place in case you need to reinstall it at some time. Note that the image here shows Qteasy32.exe, but you will see Qteasy32.zip. You will need to extract the exe file from the zip file with PKZip or WinZip (Windows ME has a built in zip extractor), usually you can just double-click the zip file and extract to the Desktop.

The file Qteasy32.exe can be moved or deleted from the Desktop after the installation is finished.

Save As Qteasy.exe on Desktop
Close all open programs. Check the TaskBar to see if any programs are open, and close them.
Task Bar
This is always a good rule for installing any program. If a file is in use, it can't be replaced by the installation program, and this could cause problems.
Now click twice on the Qteasy32.exe icon on your Desktop. Read the installation instructions that come up during the install process.
This part should install without a hitch. The movie player installs first.

Installing QuickTime
Plug-in installation:

Should you install the QuickTime plug-in? Select Next if you have not installed Quicktime3.0. Otherwise select Cancel.
This version of QuickTime only installs the Movie Player Plug-in, which will show *.mov files inside your browser window. Also QuickTime VR movies work nicely.
You may get a different window, I already had Quicktime installed when I took these shots.

Installing the plug-in
Exit Setup
Exit Setup here if you don't want to install the plug-in.
Now you have to make a choice. If you use both browsers you will need to repeat the install a second time. Browser selection
Back to the beginning now... If you see this when you first run the installer, you already have QuickTime 2.1.2 installed.
Select No to skip to the plug-in installation.
Select Yes if you don't think QuickTime is working right.
QuickTime reinstall
You see this if you already have QuickTime installed.
Pretty easy really. If you think I went into too much detail just remember some people don't even know what drag-n-drop is, some need a little extra help. I need help getting my lawnmower started.

Maybe the CEOs at Apple should
